Stretching for Runners: IT Band, Shin Splints, Hip Flexors and Back

This video utilizes a variety of yoga based stretches to provide stretches for some of the most common problem areas for runners.

Maintaining your flexibility is imperative to keeping proper biomechanics and optimizing your energy during longer runs. It has long been stated that running ruins your knees. Running actually strengthens your joints. Running with incorrect biomechanics and pelvic alignment can put inappropriate pressure on your joints. Keeping your muscles supple and properly aligned can prevent biomechanical breakdown.

Stretching after running also helps prevent injuries, and improves blood flow to your muscles which speeds up the healing process.

Enjoy the video, and don't forget to stretch! A healthy runner will be faster, have more endurance, and the ability to keep training long after other competitors.
